A Day In Town

There’s more to do in Bar Harbor than shopping, spend the day checking out some of the beautiful spots to relax with a book or play with your family.

From downtown Bar Harbor, you can access Bar Island via the sandbar, a great family friendly hike that is quick and easy to get to. Keep an eye out while walking along the sandbar, you may find some seaglass or other treasures!

After spending time at the Sand Bar, meander your way around Bar Harbor using the Shore Path. This flat walking path avoids the shops and makes you forget you’re in a bustling town. Take some time to do a kid’s favorite activity, throwing rocks into the ocean.

Once you finish the end of the Shore Path, you will find yourself on Upper Main Street near the Bar Harbor Grand and one of our favorite lunch spots, Peekytoe. Grab some lunch to go and continue walking through the neighborhoods of Bar Harbor to Glenn Mary Wading Pool. This quiet location is a great alternative for children to cool off on a hot summer day and enjoy lunch.
